Principal's Welcome

Welcome parents, guardians and students to the 2024-2025 school year!

Jack Hille Middle School is a safe, respectful, challenging and supportive learning environment that provides a high quality, rigorous academic, artistic and technological curriculum to create lifelong learners.  To achieve this, we provide students challenging experiences in the areas of Language Arts/Reading, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and the Arts.  Our staff is thrilled to provide successful educational opportunities for all learners by challenging those who excel, and by providing academic interventions for those in need.

School District 142 provides many afterschool activities such as cross-country, basketball, volleyball, track, art club, choir, National Junior Honors Society, student council and many more.  We are very excited about this upcoming school year with our Huskies!

Communication is key to our relationship with students and parents.  Please use PowerSchool online to check your child’s grades weekly.  Please be sure to sign up for ParentSquare in order to receive important updates and communicate with your child’s teacher.  It is very important that we all communicate to ensure the success of your child(ren).

Arrival/Dismissal Procedures:

Parent Pick-up/Drop-off:  Parents should not pull into the circle drive for arrival or dismissal.

End of the Day Pick Up:  If you are making a change to your child’s dismissal plans, please call the main office no later than 2:00 PM.  If this will be a regular occurrence, please send a note in with your child so that the office staff can plan accordingly.  The office is busy at dismissal and we want to ensure your child is dismissed properly and safely.

Tardies/Absences:

It is important that your child is in attendance, on time daily.  Please have your child at school by 7:50 AM.  Breakfast will be served to children beginning at 7:45 AM.

Meetings with the Principal/Assistant Principal:

Should a parent or guardian need to speak to the Principal, Assistant Principal, or District Assistant, an appointment needs to be made through the secretaries.  If this is in regards to a classroom situation, please be sure to talk to your child’s teacher(s) first.  Please contact the secretaries at 708-687-5550 to make an appointment.

Cell Phones:

Cell phones should be turned off and kept in students’ lockers during the school day.  If a child has their cell phone out at school more than once, it will be confiscated and parents will need to pick up the phone.  If this issue continues, the child will have to turn in their cell phone daily before the day begins.

Dress Code:

Please refer to the parent/student handbook on www.d142.org for guidelines regarding appropriate dress for school.  If your child is not dressed appropriately, they will be given a PE top or shorts.  Children will not be allowed to call home for a change of clothes.

Positive, frequent and ongoing communication between parents and teachers is vital to our success as a school community.  We welcome you as partners in your child’s learning and hope you will become a familiar face and positive role model at our school.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our main office at 708-687-5550.

We look forward to our best year yet!

Ms. Valente, Principal                                                 Mr. Novak, Assistant Principal
